Position Summary:
This position screens incoming mail, which is essential to the safety of the facility. The goal of this position is to ensure that mailroom procedures and processes are addressed in a timely fashion
Sorts incoming resident and staff mail, which includes first class mail, electronic mail, videos, pictures, newspapers, and magazines following prescribed policy and procedures.
Pick up mail and delivers mail to the DOC Central Office, and Central Mail.
Researches and responds to resident communication forms. Answers complaints after investigation and provides written response to the Supervisor.
Inspects incoming residents' newspapers, and magazines, reviewing the contents for contraband items to ensure that contraband is not introduced into the facility.
Records contraband items appropriately, notifying EAI for disposition if needed
Must be capable of performing Essential physical Functions (provided upon request)
Six months of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Valid Driver's License
Must have a Valid High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must take and pass drug screen, background check, and Tuberculosis (TB) test; TB Testing is provided by the facility at no cost to the employee.
Must be a current United States Citizen.
Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving domestic battery as an adult unless the conviction was for a battery committed prior to July 1, 1997, and has been expunged.
Must be free of felony convictions.
