The City of Norfolk Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to support the newly established department. Responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, managing payroll, assisting with employee onboarding, and overseeing office purchases. The individual will also coordinate training for support staff and manage planning and reporting processes. The role requires a proactive approach to handling inquiries, facilitating requests for computer security access, and coordinating meetings and appointments. The Administrative Assistant I will be responsible for maintaining databases and filing systems, conducting research, and preparing electronic documents. Financial duties will include disbursing petty cash, maintaining budget accounts, processing invoices, and performing periodic reconciliations of accounts. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief DEI Officer by assisting with contract administration, attending staff and community meetings, and coordinating special projects aimed at advancing Norfolk's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion for all staff, residents, businesses, and visitors.
