About The Position

The Administrative Assistant I position at the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a highly responsible role that provides essential administrative support to the Office of the Hospital Administrator, Assistant Institution Superintendent, and Chief Legal Counsel. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative experience.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Hospital Administrator, Assistant Institution Superintendent, and Chief Legal Counsel.
  • Assist in the completion of hiring and separation packets, ensuring all required documents are accurately completed and forwarded to HR.
  • Manage all postal pieces coming in and out of the Center, including outgoing resident mail according to Center policy.
  • Prepare internal and external correspondence for signatures and respond to information requests.
  • Coordinate office services by tracking and reviewing progress on special assignments to department heads.
  • Manage the calendar for the Hospital Administrator, including scheduling meetings and events.
  • Maintain a master file of current Department and Center policies and procedures, interpreting them for visitors and the public.
  • Independently perform special assignments and projects as assigned by management.
  • Serve as backup to the Administrative Assistant II position in preparing medication court dockets and coordinating necessary communications.
