About The Position

An Administration Assistant provides crucial administrative, clerical, and operational support for jail/prison management, handling inmate records, mail processing, communication with the public and security staff, and ensuring compliance with procedures, all while maintaining confidentiality and supporting daily facility functions like inmate visitation and security protocols, requiring strong organizational skills and knowledge of the criminal justice system.This position, Administrative Assistant B (Job Requisition #54136), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Associate's degree and one (1) year providing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation
  • High school graduation or equivalent and two (2) years performing administrative-level duties for a project, program, or operation.
  • Administrative duties are those beyond general clerical or secretarial, such as interpretation of laws, rules and regulations; data collection and analysis; managing support services; and implementing program policies and procedures.
  • Candidates who have any felony conviction record or who, within the past five (5) years, have been placed under supervision or sanctioned for a misdemeanor conviction must receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Corrections in order to be considered for employment.
