About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the Mechanical Engineering Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing purchasing card transactions; preparing new hire entries in Workday for temporary hourly employees, undergraduate workers, volunteers, and graduate assistants; scheduling department courses; creating purchasing requisitions; maintaining electronic office files; initiating spend authorizations and expense reports; coordinating job candidate and guest speaker accommodations; and initiating and tracking department key requests and other duties as assigned. The Administrative Assistant 3 serves as a primary point of contact for the department’s administrative office and works independently to prioritize and manage tasks. This position reports to the departmental NSHE Specialist.

Requirements

  • graduation from high school or equivalent education
  • three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities
  • OR One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
