About The Position

Under close supervision of a Research Scientist 1, Chief Economist, or other supervisor in a state department, institution, or agency, assists as part of a team or task force in the review, analysis, and appraisal of current department administrative procedures, organization, and performance, and helps prepare recommendations for changes and/or revisions; does other related duties as required. Specific to the Position Assist in the preparation of economic analysis as relates to climate change, the benefits of recreation spaces, and other issues related to Department priorities. Assist in the drafting of reports for both internal and external audiences. Assist in maintaining internal literature database and research organization.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience involving the review, analysis, and evaluation of budget, organization, administrative practices, operational methods, management operations, or data processing applications, or any combination thereof, which shall have included responsibility for recommendation, planning, and/or implementation of improvements in a business or government agency.
  • OR
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011, have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act”.
  • Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship, and Immigration Services regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in environmental economics, economics, environmental science, or a related field.
  • They should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in statistical and econometric software such as R and/or Python, as well as advanced Excel capabilities, are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for preparing reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
