About The Position

Full-time position for an Administrative Aide in Main Propulsion Machinery. This position reports to the VIRGINIA Class Main Propulsion Machinery Manager in Groton. Job assignment includes but are not limited to the following: Typing, distributing, filing of correspondences, such as letters to customers, internal memorandum, transmittals and maintaining electronic and hard copies, Maintaining electronic and hard copy department files, including personnel files. Answer telephones and taking messages, managing calendar schedules and direct administrative duties to support the department manager Arranging business travel, preparing visit requests, and generating expense reports Managing office supplies Maintaining departmental organization charts. Arranging meetings and managing conference rooms General administrative duties to support to the Main Machinery organization. Preparing IT service requests, computer system access request, and communication work orders Updating department databases, such as commitments, letter file numbers, etc Sensitivity to confidential human resources information (CHRI) matters may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 45 wpm.
  • 3-7 years of administrative experience or background in teaching.
  • Able to obtain Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of correspondence formatting, and experience with PC applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Successful candidate must possess strong computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work independently
  • Extremely organized
  • Display team commitment
  • High energy and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside Customers and Vendors
  • Ability to support time-critical assignments and assist with various administrative team members

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or certificate program completion preferred.
