As part of the HR team, the payroll clerk ensures the accuracy of employee timecards and therefore their paychecks. A keen eye for detail while providing excellent customer service to fellow employees is a must for this position.

  • Monitor payroll for the Rail Division daily; including but not limited to auditing hours, data entry of missed punch, and paid time off forms for all hourly employees.
  • Research discrepancies and initiate contact with employees to resolve issues.
  • Work closely with the Accounting team to accurately report employee gratuities and tip-outs for each pay period.
  • Create and present hourly reports to Department Managers to ensure payroll budgets are not exceeded.
  • Aid in updating and auditing employees' files for training and tracking purposes.
  • Facilitate the distribution of biweekly paystubs based on employees' assigned work location and shift type.
  • Communicate with multi-levels of leadership for operational updates and events
  • Support the management with special projects and requests.
  • Two years of progressively responsible general administrative work experience is preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail while working both independently and in a group environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
