Represents hospital administration and clinical management in their absence. Demonstrates clinical leadership to improve patient care and nursing practice. Serves as a clinical resource for nursing by providing clinical expertise and by teaching in informal settings. Responsibilities Responsible for own practice within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries. Maintains current license. Maintains expertise in the area. Regular and timely attendance is required for this position. Performance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizations. Demonstrates leadership skills in systems management of practice and/or operations issues. Assists the staff with the transfer of patients to and from other institutions. Arranges with anesthesia and physicians the scheduling of surgery and/or procedures after hours. Coordinates the release of bodies with the funeral homes and assists staff/families during the process. Serves as a resource for nurses by providing clinical expertise. Serves as an educator in informal settings. Teaches basic and advanced skills. Role model by exhibiting practice behaviors which encourage staff self development. Assists in the staffs development of problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Mentors and supports staff in developing conflict management, delegation, nursing practice, and communication skills. Performs patient care services as needed. Provides direct patient care. Performs care planning activities utilizing assessment data or input from all team members encompassing individual patient needs throughout the continuum of care. Alters plan of care based on ongoing assessments. Ensures efficient, quality patient outcomes through the implementation of the plan of care and effective use of all available resources. Communicates staff educational needs to the appropriate management representative. interprets clinical and administrative hospital policies and procedures after hours. Communicates with management concerning unresolved issues, problems, or education needs of the staff and provides appropriate follow-up as necessary. Acts as a facilitator and resource to the hospital staff in solving problems. Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree Bachelor's Degree An accredited, state approved, school of nursing degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience: 5 Clinical RN experience Skills: Computer skills and keyboarding Skill in decision-making
