About The Position

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:  Kirkwood Community College's Agricultural Sciences Department seeks a skilled enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach courses in our Veterinary Technician Program. Primary duties will include assist with teaching the large animal lab. The labs for this position will be Monday and Wednesday from 2:30 pm - 3:25 pm. $1,304  per credit hour of instruction. Lab activities include, but are not limited to: blood draws, IM and sub-q injections, halter lead and tie, TPR. Assist with preparing and facilitating lab activities involving large and small ruminants and equine. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course. Requirements

  • Three years of experience with large animals or bachelor's degree in Animal Science.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years experience handling cattle, goats, and equine.
  • AAS or Bachelor's degree in Animal Science.
  • Large animal husbandry experience.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
