About The Position
Mercer County Community College (MCCC) is seeking an Adjunct Theatre Instructor of Fundamentals Lighting & Design to join our dedicated team. This part-time position is based in West Windsor and Trenton, NJ, and is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching and mentoring students in the field of theatre and lighting design. The instructor will be responsible for teaching all course levels offered at MCCC, preparing class lectures, assignments, and activities in accordance with the course outline. The role includes administering student assessments and reporting results, ensuring the timely submission of student grades, and actively participating in the goals set by the discipline coordinator. In this position, the instructor will teach students how to maintain and operate lighting, stage, and other technical equipment and systems. They will cover the basic elements of lighting design for theatre and dance productions, inform students about the technical aspects of theatre including event load-in, setups, and strikes. The instructor will supervise projects that may include rigging and striking theatrical lighting and overall stage setup for various events and productions, preparing students for future opportunities within their field. Additionally, the instructor will demonstrate how to read and interpret drawings and plots, and develop sketches and schematics as part of the curriculum.
