About The Position
The Department of Psychology at Brigham Young University invites applicants to fill a part-time position in the Department of Psychology to begin Winter Semester 2026. The selected candidate will show commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring. The responsibility of this faculty member is to teach Psych 342 (Psychopathology). Selected candidates are expected to have the knowledge and ability to teach about the classification, causes, and treatment of psychological disorders across the lifespan. Topics include diagnostic criteria, theoretical models, empirical findings, and ethical considerations related to mental health. Candidates should prepare students to think critically about psychopathology in both clinical and cultural contexts, with sensitivity to faith-informed understandings of human behavior and suffering. In addition, candidates will assist students with their volunteer experiences in a mental health setting. This course will be taught as an Evening Class in the Winter 2026 Semester. Requirements
- MS or PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
- Knowledge and ability to teach about the classification, causes, and treatment of psychological disorders across the lifespan.
- Ability to teach topics including diagnostic criteria, theoretical models, empirical findings, and ethical considerations related to mental health.
- Ability to prepare students to think critically about psychopathology in both clinical and cultural contexts, with sensitivity to faith-informed understandings of human behavior and suffering.
- Ability to assist students with their volunteer experiences in a mental health setting.
- Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
- Live a life of loyalty to Jesus Christ and His restored Church and align yourself with doctrines and teachings declared by living prophets, seers, and revelators
- Demonstrate intentionality in building faith in Jesus Christ and testimony of His restored gospel among students and others in the BYU community

- All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
