About The Position

The Adjunct Surgical Technology Faculty is responsible for delivering a quality educational experience to students in surgical technology courses. This role involves ensuring that the curriculum is current, employing effective teaching methods, and treating all students fairly. The instructor will prepare and grade examinations, maintain student records, and provide guidance to students regarding their academic progress.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of operating room experience or teaching in the field, or a combination of both within five years prior to hire date.
  • Current certification through the NBSTSA (CST certification) is required.
  • AA or AS degree in any subject is required.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching surgical technology courses.
  • Credential in the field of Surgical Technology from a national credentialing organization accredited by the NCCA.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and implements the objectives of the curriculum course under the direction of the Director of Surgical Technology.
  • Prepares, administers, grades, and records formative and summative written and practical examinations.
  • Discusses student concerns related to their learning experience and academic progress.
  • Plans and assigns student activities in classroom and clinical settings to meet program objectives.
  • Maintains records of student progress, performance, attendance, and grades.
  • Provides a professional role model for students.
  • Participates in the selection and preparation of instructional materials.
  • Devises written lesson plans and implements them through various teaching methods.
  • Provides a copy of all lesson plans to the Director of Surgical Technology.
  • Identifies individual and collective learning needs of students, considering their physical, mental, and emotional status.
  • Assists students in developing an understanding of values and attitudes appropriate to the healthcare profession.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with the Program Director or designee.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
