About The Position

The position involves teaching and implementing the objectives of the curriculum course under the direction and supervision of the Director of Surgical Technology. Responsibilities include preparing, administering, grading, and recording examinations, discussing student concerns, planning student activities, maintaining records of student progress, and providing a professional role model. The instructor will also participate in the selection and preparation of instructional materials, devise lesson plans, and assist students in developing appropriate values and attitudes for the healthcare profession.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of operating room experience or teaching in the field, or a combination of the two, within five years prior to hire date.
  • Current certification through the NBSTSA (CST certification).
  • AA or AS in any subject.

Nice To Haves

  • Credential in the field of Surgical Technology through a national credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and implements the objectives of the curriculum course.
  • Prepares, administers, grades, and records formative and summative examinations.
  • Discusses student concerns related to learning experience and academic progress.
  • Plans and assigns student activities in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Maintains records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
  • Provides a professional role model for students.
  • Participates in the selection and preparation of instructional materials.
  • Devises written lesson plans and implements them through various teaching methods.
  • Provides a copy of all lesson plans to the Director of Surgical Technology.
  • Identifies individual and collective learning needs of assigned students.
  • Assists students in developing values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the healthcare profession.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with Program Director or designee.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
