About The Position

The Adjunct RN (OBGYN) Clinical Instructor at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing is a part-time role responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of nursing program instruction. The instructor will integrate nursing theories and competencies into both theoretical and clinical teaching, ensuring students achieve the required competencies in their nursing education. This position requires a commitment to student success and adherence to the policies and procedures outlined by the Nursing Faculty Handbook and College Catalog.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered RN license in Nevada.
  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or Bachelor's degree in nursing with a Master's or Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Three years of experience as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate Watson's Theory of Caring and QSEN Competencies into teaching components.
  • Apply knowledge from various disciplines when preparing theoretical content.
  • Maintain expertise in the subject area through literature review and resource seeking.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills in the laboratory according to best practices.
  • Hold students accountable for competency and assist in remediation activities.
  • Motivate students through instructional and advising activities.
  • Conduct conferences with students regarding academic and clinical progress.
  • Propose course and syllabi revisions for review and approval.
  • Identify textbooks and resources to meet course objectives.
  • Facilitate learning experiences to optimize student achievement.
  • Perform grading of student theoretical and clinical performance.
  • Maintain accurate evaluation records for each course.
  • Schedule and hold regular office hours as required.
  • Utilize communication principles when interacting with students and peers.
  • Orient students to clinical agencies and interpret learning objectives.
  • Coordinate student learning activities within clinical agencies.
  • Evaluate the quality of clinical facilities for student learning experiences.
  • Conduct annual meetings with clinical agency representatives.
  • Contribute to department and college activities to achieve goals.
  • Attend faculty convocations and participate in committees and meetings.
  • Participate in program development and evaluation of policies and curriculum.
  • Prepare reports for Systematic Program Evaluation based on standards.
  • Represent MFSON and NCI to outside agencies and the community.
  • Serve as a professional advocate in nursing organizations.
  • Pursue continuing educational experiences and participate in peer review.
  • Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
