About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Bethune‐Cookman University invite applications for an Adjunct Psychology Professor position to support the undergraduate program. The area of specialization is open, although preference will be given to applicants with expertise in clinical psychology, behavioral neuroscience/biopsychology, developmental psychology and/or African/Black psychology. Expertise and ability to teach one or more of the following courses is preferable: research methods, statistics, psychological measurements, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, physiological psychology, psychology of aging, and African/Black Psychology.

Requirements

  • Excellence in teaching and service
  • Ability to teach up to three (3) courses each semester.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Psychology or related field (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity.
  • Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.

Nice To Haves

  • Online teaching experience is preferred but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate student supervision in the assigned courses.
  • Effectively deliver curricular content.
  • Participate in curricular development, revision, and change.
  • Develop course examinations and/or resources.
  • Improve teaching skills by seeking new knowledge and maintaining currency in professional competencies.
  • Collect, record, maintain, and submit accurate class records, including grades and attendance to meet university policies.
  • Advise and evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to Institutional and Program outcomes.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of course syllabi, program outlines, handouts, etc.
  • Be familiar with Institutional and Department policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
