About The Position

The part-time adjunct faculty member at SUNY Erie is responsible for teaching department courses and evaluating student performance according to the guidelines set by the department and the College. This role involves preparing lesson plans, teaching aids, and instructional materials, as well as maintaining accurate records on students and submitting relevant data to the department and/or the College. Adjunct faculty report to the Department Chair for their discipline and are expected to contribute to an inclusive and collaborative College environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in area of specialization plus 30 hours of appropriate advanced study
  • Good knowledge of field of specialization
  • Experience in implementing a variety of teaching strategies
  • Ability to develop educational programs
  • Ability to teach effectively at the college level
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience teaching a diverse student body
  • Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in literature, composition, or English education
  • At least one year of English teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach department courses on a part-time basis
