About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. ‌ The Department of Communication and Sociology at Abilene Christian University, located in Abilene, Texas, invites applications for an adjunct position in communication with a teaching load equivalent to up to five courses per year. Assigned courses may include public speaking, small group communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication and/or other courses as needed and determined by the department chair. Applicants must have a master’s degree in communication to teach at the undergraduate level. Applicants with a Ph.D. in communication may also be assigned to teach courses at the graduate level as needed. A minimum of one year, college-level teaching experience and a record of effective teaching are required. The Department of Communication and Sociology offers two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree in communication and an interdisciplinary minor in leadership. We also host the ACU Speaking Center and a nationally ranked debate team. ACU is an R2 university where faculty focus on integrating faith and learning in the classroom and engage in research with graduate and undergraduate students on a broad range of topics.
