POSITION SUMMARY North Central College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach Special Education (SPED) courses within the Department of Education. Adjunct instructors are responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, ensuring course content aligns with established standards, evaluating and grading student work, and holding office hours to support student success. Adjunct faculty appointments are made on a course-by-course basis. This posting is intended to build a pool of qualified candidates for future teaching opportunities, as program needs vary from semester to semester. This is a non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointment with no tenure eligibility. The number of courses assigned will depend on departmental needs and sufficient course enrollment. Strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. DESCRIPTION OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed. Working with prior syllabi and master course outlines, plan a comprehensive hybrid online course meeting course objectives and standards. Establish relationships with students, cultivating a classroom culture of character conducive to growth and development. Support the department and College's mission, vision and values, and contribute to the advancement of program goals. Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and prospective students to the program or College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work environment and engage in educational opportunities. Other duties as assigned.
