The University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks non-tenure-track Lecturers in the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education. Lecturers will lead classroom instruction, develop course content, grade and evaluate coursework and exams, and undertake other duties associated with their course and its modalities of instruction. Qualified candidates will be considered for positions in Anthropology, Applied Communications, Art and Design, Education, English, History, Mass Communications, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Rhetoric and Writing, the School of Public Affairs, Sociology, Theatre, and Spanish when positions become available. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Be able to navigate Blackboard and Google Suite.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Be able to manage time effectively.
  • Be able to keep good records.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in the field of instruction or equivalent experience.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.

Responsibilities

  • Meet classes as scheduled
  • Notify the appropriate Chair/Director, Assistant Dean, or Dean in advance if they are to be absent, and, if possible, arrange for a substitute instructor or assignments for his or her class.
  • Be accessible to students through email, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments.
  • Prepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and follow the published final exam schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ academic standing; promptly provide final grades, attendance, and other information as required by the administration.
  • Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
  • Evaluate students based solely on their academic performance and to respond promptly student grade questions and/or appeals.
  • Follow university policies and procedures.
