About The Position

Adjunct faculty are hired to fulfill responsibilities which will be specified in their letter of appointment. Unless otherwise specified in the adjunct faculty member’s letter of appointment, workload consists solely of instruction. All faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Benefits: Faculty eligibility rules are complex and depend on the nature of your appointment. Faculty with a quarter-to-quarter or semester-to-semester appointment who are in an EWU paid appointment of at least 50 percent or more are eligible for PEBB insurance on the first day of the month following the start of their second consecutive academic term. See WAC 182-12-114 section (3)(a)(ii) for more details. Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise is required for teaching in the discipline associated with appointment as an adjunct faculty member; expertise is normally demonstrated by one or more of the following:
  • Master’s degree in nursing or Bachelor’s degree in nursing with Master’s degree in a health or education related field
  • Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license, or eligible for licensure
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years recent clinical experience
  • Master’s level course work in nursing education
  • One or more years of prior experience teaching in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment
  • Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system
