About The Position

The position is for a Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer for General Industry, responsible for delivering classroom instruction for the OSHA 10 Hour and OSHA 30 Hour General Industry courses. The trainer must possess baseline subject matter knowledge and experience in various OSHA topics, including Hazardous Communications, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and more. A key attribute for this role is the ability to research and interpret applicable OSHA regulations from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

Requirements

  • BS Degree in the teaching subject area, or a Board certified; Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • At least 5 years of industry or business experience in the teaching subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact successfully with academic and business personnel.
  • Some night or weekend hours may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience in an academic or Workforce Development environment.
  • 7 years of industry or business applied experience in the teaching subject area.
  • Experience working with students from diverse academic backgrounds.
  • Ability to enhance proficiency in the use of diverse classroom technology.
  • Experiential Learning Model (ELM) educational training.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement.
  • Prepare all course materials and lessons adequately.
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines.
  • Assign interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes.
  • Engage and communicate with students to encourage participation and learning.
  • Complete grade books, final grade sheets, and assessments on time.
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
  • Maintain a record of each student's progress and make it available upon request.
  • Facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule.
  • Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives.
  • Complete all end-of-term responsibilities, including submission of final grades and attendance records.
  • Consult with academic personnel on questions or issues involving course curricula.
  • Respond to requests from students and academic personnel in a timely manner.
