About The Position

Bergen Community College is accepting applications for adjunct positions in the Biology and Horticulture department for Summer and Fall 2026. Horticulture Department: Horticulture is the science and art of growing plants. The horticulture program at Bergen Community College focuses on ornamental plants, those valued for their appearance, beauty or fragrance, as opposed to those grown for human consumption as in agriculture or utilitarian value as in textiles or other industries. The mission of the horticulture program at Bergen Community College is to train students in the art, science and business of the ornamental plant industries and developing their abilities to research, evaluate and organize information to present their findings before teachers, peers, employers or clients. Our horticulture faculty encourage creative problem solving, teamwork and individual effort, hands-on learning, professionalism, and entrepreneurship in our students.

Requirements

  • Industry experience
  • Firm understanding of ornamental horticulture
  • Experience in one of the areas represented by these courses: Plant Propagation Landscaping of annual plants Landscaping of woody plants Pests of ornamental plants Fundamentals of Horticulture Turf and Grounds

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education in horticulture or a related field
  • Teaching experience
