About The Position

Primary Responsibilities: Classroom instruction in discipline (Medical Assistant) to include labs. Prepare for and instruct established and approved Medical Assistant curriculum in a professional manner Clinical instruction in discipline. Assist with securing clinical sites for Medical Assistant students Must be able to teach an effective class using a mixture of lecture, video and other tools to engage students in the learning process Track student performance and attendance Grade student performance and report results Employ college learning management system (LMS) and adhere to good instructional practices (examples include: published syllabi, office hours, regular reporting of grades). Carry an allowable teaching load of credits per semester. Supervise open lab and maintain lab area for daily instructional activities Demonstrated knowledge and ongoing professional development toward an understanding of advances and developments in the field of Medical Assisting and relevant teaching methodologies. Sensitivity to learning issues of adults and diverse cultures. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in Medical Assisting Credentialed in Medical Assisting by a credentialing organization such as the following: o CMA (AAMA) o RMA (AMT) o CCMA (NHA) o NCMA (NCCT) or RN (Registered Nurse), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field Three years experience working in the medical field Appropriate experience in the field of Medical Assisting as evidenced by education and/or work experience. Some teaching and administrative experience Ability to demonstrate a sensitivity to diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultures, preparation, learning styles, and / or disabilities. Experience working in a clinical setting with extensive knowledge and experience working with medical assisting procedures and techniques, including phlebotomy and EKG. Valid driver's license Commitment to enriching the lives of students by promoting a positive learning environment, enhancing the quality of the student experience; and philosophically supporting programs and policies that facilitate student success. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a related Healthcare Field. Three years' experience teaching in Higher Education. Work is indoors with some travel to visit clinical sites and meet with Office Managers. Uses computers and other technology for the preparation and teaching of classes as well as for communication. May sit or stand for extended periods.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Medical Assisting
  • Credentialed in Medical Assisting by a credentialing organization such as the following:
