About The Position

The Mental Health and Human Services degree program at Kingsborough Community College is hiring adjunct lecturers to teach required field internship courses. We are looking for dynamic, proactive, and innovative lecturers to support students in developing their social service skills and knowledge. Field internship courses are practice-based learning opportunities hosted at a variety of non-profit settings in Brooklyn, New York as elder care, outpatient mental health, schools for children with disabilities, and community organizing. Approximately 10 students learn together on-site for 6 hours on the same day each week during the 12-week semester. (For example, a nursing home site hosts students from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays). The adjunct lecturer creates syllabi and materials, offers lectures, and supports the students to reflect on their engagement with clients and tasks. Some sites require adjuncts to collaborate with the organization's staff to create and supervise student tasks. We have existing sites and are open to new sites as well. Performs teaching and related duties in area(s) of expertise. _Visa sponsorship is not availalbe for this position._

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work (LMSW or LCSW preferred) or related field.
  • At least 2 years employment experience as a provider and/or supervisor in a social service setting
  • Supervisory, Group facilitation and/or Teaching experience required
