About the position

Benedictine University is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Graphic Arts and Design program. The position is part-time and non-benefit eligible, with compensation set at $1400 per contact hour for those with a terminal degree and $1200 per contact hour for those without. The ideal candidate will have expertise in traditional graphic design for print and digital media, as well as a strong understanding of contemporary design technologies and industry trends. Instructors will be expected to teach a range of courses from foundational to advanced levels, incorporating skills such as UI/UX design, motion graphics, AR/VR, and/or 3D printing. Successful applicants will teach one or two courses each semester, with each course consisting of 4 contact hours.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Graphic Design courses at various levels.
  • Incorporate skills such as UI/UX design, motion graphics, AR/VR, and/or 3D printing into the curriculum.
  • Prepare students for the evolving design landscape.
  • Complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field preferred.
  • Work experience or knowledge of related industries preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the university level preferred.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe CC, Figma, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in graphic design.
