The graduate program in the MA in Mental Health Counseling at Iona University is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Master’s level courses in the program for the Spring 2026 semester. Courses include: MHC618 Understanding and Treatment of Addictive Behaviors, MHC622 Advanced Life Span Development and MHC626 Community Psychology and Traumatology. These are all 3-credit courses. The instructor should be able to use Blackboard Ultra to assist in course delivery. For each course, the instructor delivers three hours of instruction per week, two in-person hours and one hour delivered via online pedagogy that is developed by the course instructor. All materials delivered in the distance-leaning format must have a substantial discussion and follow-up. Courses will begin on January 12, 2026 and conclude on May 13, 2026, the last day of final exam period. Course descriptions: MHC 618 – Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 pm – Course explores the causes, manifestations, and treatments of addictive behaviors and substances abuse issues. MHC 622 – Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 pm – Course explores the multiple aspects of human development throughout the lifespan, with a special focus on mental health at specific ages. MHC 626 – Wednesdays 4:00 – 6:00 pm – Course explores the multiple aspects of mental health problems in the community, issues associated with a variety of types of trauma and their impact on the individual, community and culture. Therapeutic processes of recovery are explored as well.
