The American Studies Department at SUNY Old Westbury regularly seeks to hire adjunct instructors to teach United States history courses. The American Studies Department offers an interdisciplinary B.A. degree in American Studies, B.A. degree in Media and Communications, and B.A. degree in Black Studies. These courses meet major elective requirements and general education requirements. Candidates for adjunct positions should have a record of high-quality teaching in support of the College Mission. We are seeking applicants who can teach mainly lower-division United States history courses that are part of Old Westbury's Liberal Education Curriculum, required for all students. Below is a list of potential courses: AS1152 Themes in U.S. History AS2112 American People I AS2122 American People II AS2252 U.S. Social Movements AS2262 African-American History I AS2263 African-American History II AS2300 Problems in US Environmental History AS2640 US Latina/o History AS3215 Crime, Protest & Policing AS3462 A History of Women in the U.S. These courses will be offered in person, on campus.
