About The Position

Normandale Community College is seeking Adjunct Instructors to join our STEM Departments. Normandale’s STEM departments that are looking for Adjunct Instructors are: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Engineering, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics. We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body. Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Those hired into these positions will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching, identifying barriers to success for students of color, and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a major in the STEM field you are apply for or Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in STEM field you are apply for.
  • All applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of employment.

  • An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population
  • Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L

  • Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom
  • Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students
  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding students
