About The Position

The College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) occasionally has openings for part-time adjunct instructors appointed on a per semester basis. Applying for a part-time teaching appointment in Political Science adds applicants to a pool which is available to the department for selection as needed for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and/or Summer 2026. Minimum educational requirements for undergraduate level courses: Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or related field, including a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in the teaching discipline. Degree and coursework must be obtained from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum educational requirements for graduate level courses: Doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline, or closely related field, including a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in the teaching discipline. Degree and coursework must be obtained from a regionally accredited institution.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or related field for undergraduate courses.
  • Doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or closely related field for graduate courses.
  • Minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in the teaching discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Political Science course(s) as needed, particularly the core introductory government classes (PSCI 2305 U.S. Government & Politics and PSCI 2306 State & Local Government with Emphasis on Texas).
  • Conduct courses in one or more modalities: face-to-face, web-enhanced, hybrid, or online.
  • Coordinate course administrative duties such as grading student work, loading all course content, meeting with students, submitting grades in a timely manner, and meeting census and grade deadlines.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as needed.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $2,400 per undergraduate section taught with a master’s degree.
  • Compensation of $2,900 per undergraduate section taught with a Ph.D.
