The Adjunct Instructor for Political Science is responsible for providing quality instruction to students while maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom. The primary focus of this role is to teach and evaluate students effectively, ensuring that they achieve their academic goals. The instructor will be expected to plan and teach classes as assigned, adhering to the course descriptions and syllabi provided by the department. This position requires a commitment to student learning and engagement, as well as the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will supervise the study and learning activities of students, providing guidance and support as needed. The role also involves administrative duties such as submitting requests for necessary equipment, supplies, and instructional aids through the appropriate channels, as well as evaluating the academic progress of students. Familiarity with the services, regulations, and procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook is essential for this position. The instructor will be required to submit course grades and perform other administrative tasks as required by the department. Additionally, scheduling two office hours per week is mandatory to ensure that students have access to the instructor for additional support. In cases where office hours cannot be scheduled, a written plan must be submitted to the Dean detailing how students can still access the instructor. It is important to note that office hours are not compensated during the summer session, and the position may involve teaching assignments on a term-by-term basis, including fall, spring, and summer semesters.
