About The Position

The School of Sciences & Humanities at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for a part-time instructor to teach PHIL 4501 Ethics in Spring 2026. This 4-credit, in-person course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-9:45 a.m. on Wentworth's Boston campus. Course Description: This course is the study of the rules and standards of right conduct in regard to the self, society, technology and industry. It encourages the student to form reasoned opinions on a number of the ethical problems of our day, especially in the areas of science and technology. Whereas Wentworth students are engaged in their major fields of study in disciplines whose goal is to utilize design, engineering and technology to make life "better", the purpose of the courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences is to help students define "better". Ethical inquiry is essential to process of deciding what is better to do, to have, and to be. We will conduct our study of ethics through primary and secondary readings, including narrative fiction and videos.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Philosophy, Ethics, or a closely related social science or humanities field (PhD or ABD preferred).
  • At least one year of college-level teaching or equivalent professional training in ethics or related area.
