The Part-Time Instructor for the CNA/PCT Program is responsible for providing classroom, lab, and clinical instruction to prepare students for certification and entry-level healthcare careers. This role includes teaching essential nursing assistant and patient care skills, evaluating student performance, and ensuring compliance with state and program standards. The instructor supports student success by fostering a positive learning environment, maintaining accurate records, and staying current with industry practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a chronic or convalescent nursing home.
  • Experience in curriculum development, adult education, and supervisory roles.
  • Prior experience in CNA or PCT instruction or program administration is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of adult teaching coursework or substantial experience supervising nurse aides.
  • Compliance with DPH instructor qualification and curriculum submission procedures.

  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • In-depth knowledge of Connecticut DPH regulations for CNA and PCT training programs.
  • Familiarity with Prometric CNA examination standards and NHA PCT certification requirements.
  • Proficiency in instructional technologies platform.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom instruction in accordance with state-approved curriculum guidelines.
  • Demonstrate and supervise students in performing essential nursing assistant and patient care skills.
  • Ensure student learning outcomes are met through effective teaching strategies, assessments, and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student performance records.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to promote student success.
  • Stay current with industry standards, certification requirements, and healthcare best practices.
  • Uphold program compliance with state and accrediting body requirements.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and program improvement initiatives.
