About The Position

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio seeks Adjunct Instructors with expertise in Mexican American Studies to be included in the general pool of candidates from which qualified part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming academic term. The deadline for application is December 20 for consideration for the Spring semester and June 20 for the Fall semester. Primary responsibility will be to teach Introduction to Mexican American Studies for the online Social Work BSW program. Preference is for instructors with online teaching experience using Blackboard. Other duties may include teaching additional classes online, hybrid, or on-site as needed (contingent upon enrollment).

Requirements

  • Master's in Ethnic Studies or related discipline in the humanistic social sciences (history, anthropology, sociology, ethnomusicology, or political science) with a primary research focus and/or a terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA, etc.) in any field with at least 18 graduate hours in Mexican American or Latinx Studies.
  • Demonstrated potential in classroom teaching at the University level.
  • Enthusiasm for connecting Mexican American students to first-generation college students, both majors and non-majors, and deep commitment to the mission and identity of the University.
  • Willingness and ability to teach in an online asynchronous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Introduction to Mexican American Studies for the online Social Work BSW program.
