About The Position

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for classroom teaching, assessment of student learning, implementing retention strategies and contributing to a dynamic career-aligned college environment. The Adjunct Instructor of Fabrication Welding is primarily responsible for teaching assigned classes at the scheduled time and place. This position conducts timely assessments of student achievement and submits grades based on assessment and college grading policy; and maintains accurate student records and posted office hours. Adjunct Instructors utilize retention strategies to maximize student success. This position will utilize the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) learner management system for classes; and contribute to curriculum review. This Adjunct Instructor markets and recruits students for the career and technical education welding program; and manages supplies and equipment in welding shop. This position remains current with discipline content/technology and teaching/learning strategies; and participates in required professional development activities. Adjunct Instructors are also responsible for service to the college. This includes attending college, center, faculty and other meetings. This individual builds positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues; and participates in activities that promote the college vision, mission and goals.

Requirements

  • Formal or informal training in welding methodology.
  • 4000 hours (2 year full time) experience in utilizing welding methods and processes commercially.
  • Ability to pass a weld test.
  • Proven ability to work in the field.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Marketing and recruitment ability.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certification.
