About The Position

Edgewood University is seeking Adjunct Instructors for its Doctor of Occupational Therapy hybrid, accelerated program. We are looking for individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Kinesiology and Occupational Performance, Neurological Foundations, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Neurorehabilitation, Splinting, Orthotics, and Physical Agent Modalities, Technology Intervention in Occupational Therapy. Adjunct Instructors are occupational therapy professionals with the responsibility of providing quality learning experiences for Edgewood University students during asynchronous, synchronous, and lab immersions at our Edgewood University Center for Health Sciences. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Each adjunct is hired to guide students and facilitate learning in a hybrid, accelerated context.

Requirements

  • Earned or in progress terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching or Doctor of Occupational therapy degree with specialization in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities.
  • Occupational therapist with an active, unrestricted license, eligible for licensure in Wisconsin.
  • Adherence to the core values and ethics of the occupational therapy profession.
  • Hold a minimum of 2 virtual office hours each week.
  • Collaboration with faculty and program leadership to ensure course objectives are met.
  • Provision of timely and constructive feedback to support student development.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  • Familiarity with teaching, advising, and mentoring students in a hybrid learning environment.
  • Participation in immersive labs on campus one-two times per semester.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a practicing occupational therapist.

  • Effective interaction with people from all backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for occupational therapy clinical education.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses as agreed upon with the OTD Program Director.
  • Refining and annually reviewing course syllabi, updating appropriately.
  • Selection of appropriate instructional methods.
  • Development and update of course materials with integration of online resources.
  • Preparation of teaching and learning activities before the start of each semester and immersive lab experiences.
  • Promotion of evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluation of students' assignments.
