About The Position

Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Guitar Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Guitar Instructor will be responsible for teaching individual lessons to music majors and non-majors, preparing students for performances and auditions, planning and executing recitals and other performances, and contributing to the development of the music program.

Requirements

  • Masters in Music, or a related field, with an emphasis in Guitar.
  • Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting.
  • Experience performing at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more Music courses as an adjunct faculty member.
  • Develop appropriate course syllabi.
  • Provide individual lessons to students at different levels of proficiency.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student.
  • Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events.
  • Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Benefits

  • Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and ranges from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.
