About The Position

Under the direction of an appointed supervisor, the primary purpose of an instructor is to provide quality instruction for the students of Western Piedmont Community College. Essential Responsibilities/Duties: In addition to the regular responsibilities of classroom teaching, instructors should demonstrate concern for their own professional growth, for their immediate field of interest, for the education profession in general, and for the progress and well-being of the entire College community. Since effective teaching is the major goal of the College, the instructor should be committed to the following: To teach assigned coursed in accordance with current course outlines. To maintain course syllabi and text selections in cooperation with appointed supervisor. To maintain acceptable standards of conduct as outlined by College policy. To maintain effective and cooperative relationships with the schools, colleges, universities, governmental agencies, and employers in the regions. To maintain sound fiscal management practices that provides the resources necessary to achieve the institution's state objectives. To maintain all necessary certification and/or licenses necessary for employment eligibility. To show a commitment to the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the College and division. To demonstrate a commitment to the community served by Western Piedmont Community College. To demonstrate and maintain professional expertise in primary academic discipline(s). To engage in regular assessment of instructional goals, methods, and results. To develop instructional plans. To direct student learning. To assess student progress in achieving theory. To assess performance requirements of the program in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. To be current and competent in Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Core Curriculum objectives included in their teaching assignment as evidenced by educational an/or experience.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or related field required.
  • Verifiable work experience in the Medical Assisting field.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Assisting or related field (e.g., Public Health) preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Core Curriculum.
  • Preparation in educational theory and techniques.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred.
