The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University is seeking to create a pool of applicants for adjunct positions that teach online courses for the graduate program in Geographic Information Science. Courses are 7-weeks and may be in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

  • Create and teach graduate-level online courses in Geographic Information Science.
  • Courses may include: Applications of Remotely Sensed Data; Cartographic Design and Visualization; Fundamentals of GeoStatistics; GIS Database Design; Internet GIS; GIS and Spatial Analytic; GIS Project Management; Trends and Applications in GIScience.
  • Interact with students and support student success.
  • Attend virtual meetings with the program faculty and staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • PhD in Geography or relative field with specialization in GIS.
  • GIS and remote sensing experience.
  • Skills and experience with instructional technology.
  • Graduate certificate in GIS.
  • College-level teaching experience in Geographic Information Science and evidence of experience in online course delivery.
  • Demonstrated innovative teaching methodologies to engage learners.
  • Instructional technology skills.
  • Interpersonal skills, including oral communication and collaboration.
  • Committed to a focus on student success.
  • Programming Language: R, Python, or JavaScript.
