About The Position

George Fox University's Graduate School of Counseling announces a call for adjunct instructors to create a pool of well-qualified individuals to assist in teaching in our growing programs. These are part-time, as-needed teaching opportunities in a variety of clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couple, and family counseling; school counseling; topics in our CACREP-accredited, TSPC-approved, and NASP-aligned programs. Purpose of this role is to: Train quality masters-level mental health professionals. Articulate the integration of faith and mental health practice, internally within the practitioner, and according to the worldview of the client/student. Promote wholeness in the student counselor that then positively impacts clients' mental health Demonstrate cultural proficiency in the practice of mental health counseling. Foster and promote the formation and development of professional dispositions related to the counseling profession.

Requirements

  • A Master's of Arts (MA) plus 2 years post-graduate clinical/field experience; or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • A qualification to teach in one of the following topics: Principle & Techniques of Counseling (Basic and Advanced) Human Growth & Development Group Theory & Therapy Personality & Counseling Spirituality & Clinical Praxis Lifestyle & Career Development Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling Addictions Research; Test and Measures Law and Ethics Foundations in School Counseling Risk and Resiliency in Youth Child and Adolescent Disorders Action Research Classroom Teaching and Learning
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship; therefore, only applicants who do not require sponsorship for employment visas, now or at any point in the future, should apply.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing a syllabus and course site using Canvas (all classes have an approved textbook and established learning outcomes, and sample syllabi and course site template are provided).
  • Preparing instruction that reflects the established learning outcomes.
  • Preparing thoroughly for each instructional week.
  • Instructing and guiding students in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Grading and returning student work in a timely manner.
  • Counseling students as needed on their performance and progress in the course.
  • Using the Canvas learning management system for all course work.
  • Remaining up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology.
  • Staying informed about changes and innovations in your field.
  • Adhering to the Graduate School of Counseling policy guides.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
