About The Position

SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 4,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners. The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Lake of the Ozarks, Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online. Position Purpose:State Fair Community College is seeking adjunct instructors for Earth Science courses on the Sedalia campus.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have completed a master's degree in Earth Science or a closely related field.
  • Possess a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction.
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate student centeredness. Be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds both on and off campus in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
  • Have a willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
  • Ability to move about campus and other locations.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference is given to those with previous community college experience and demonstrated capabilities in the instruction of the subject matter.
  • If applicant has a bachelor's degree in Earth Science and sufficient appropriate other experience, alternative qualification for teaching may be possible.
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Instruct assigned courses
  • Utilize technology (including Canvas)
  • Gradebook/feedback up-to-date within 1 week
  • Timely response to student emails within 24 hours
  • Meet attendance and final grade entry deadlines
  • ILO/data reporting to Lead Instructor/Division as requested
  • Maintain communication with Lead Instructor and Division Chair
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.
