About The Position

The College of Liberal and Fine Arts at Tarleton State University invites qualified applicants for anticipated part-time Adjunct Faculty positions in Digital Media Studies within the Department of Visual Arts and Design. These positions are designed to support our growing student enrollment for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Semesters at our Stephenville campus. Successful candidates may teach up to six (6) semester credit hours in their respective disciplines, delivering instruction in-person only, to emphasize fostering stronger technical skills and promoting technical competency. Additionally, they will be expected to hold office hours and provide necessary support to students.

Requirements

  • Earned MFA/MA or equivalent terminal degree, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of proven college-level teaching experience.
  • Active professional practice in art, media arts, or design, demonstrated through exhibitions, publications, or other creative work, along with relevant course related experience.
  • Ability to teach raster, vector, and moving image-based media.
  • Proficiency in Canvas (our course management system) and related textbook-specific platforms.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and commitment to responding promptly to university and student communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned doctorate/terminal degree in Game Design, Film Studies, Design, or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Commitment to staying current in digital arts, design technology, and best teaching practices.
  • Ability to teach face-to-face courses.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
