About The Position

Utah Valley University invites passionate, student-centered professionals to join our team as Adjunct Faculty Instructors in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. This role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of mental health counselors through engaging instruction, practical skill development, and adherence to CACREP-accredited standards. Adjunct faculty members design and teach courses that foster critical thinking, professional ethics, and compassionate clinical practice in alignment with UVU's mission of excellence in education. Working collaboratively with program leadership and colleagues, instructors contribute to a supportive and innovative learning environment while maintaining flexibility and autonomy in course delivery. Requirements

  • Licensed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a closely related area in the state of Utah, AND a master's level degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university program with a doctoral degree in CES or a closely related area, AND one year of experience teaching master's level students.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach assigned course(s) in the CMHC program.
  • Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught based on CACREP requirements.
  • Prepare instructional materials (e.g., course outline, syllabus, evaluation, and homework activities such as quizzes, papers, and/or exams, visual aids for lecture content, handouts, etc.).
  • Instruct students using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluate learning using appropriate testing methods.
  • Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Recommend students for advancement and graduation when requested.
  • Maintain accurate records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports when requested or required.
  • Assist program director, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program.
  • Attend faculty and other meetings when invited.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement, and adhere to these policies.
  • Maintain safe classroom conditions and interactions.
  • Appropriately refer to OTL-recommended methods and best practices.
