About The Position

The Adjunct Automotive Instructor provides instruction to students in the Automotive program in accordance with established course outlines and college policies. The position includes teaching students in areas such as engine repair, electrical systems, brakes, steering and suspension, transmissions, and diagnostics. The instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on, and theory-based instruction that prepares students for employment in the automotive industry and/or industry-recognized certifications. Instructs students of varying ages and skill levels, including high school students who may be new to automotive technology, as well as adult learners seeking advanced training or industry certification.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Automotive or a related field or significant documented work experience in automotive service and repair.
  • Current ASE Certifications or eligibility to obtain them.
  • Minimum of three years of related industry experience.
  • Effective communication and instructional skills.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current automotive technology and industry standards (ASE, NATEF, ASE Educational Foundation)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Master ASE certification.
  • Familiarity with online or hybrid instructional methods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver course materials in classroom and lab settings following the approved curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and organized lab environment, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environmentfor students.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, tests, and practical demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in accordance with college policies.
  • Provide students with constructive feeback and academic support as needed.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development activies as directed.
  • Follow all institutional policies, procedures, and acadeic standards, including those related to FERPA, Title IX and accessibility.
  • Model professional conduct, ethics, and communication in interactions with students and colleagues.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the instructional and institutional mission of the college.
