About The Position

The Production class at Ottawa University serves art and communication majors by offering an introduction to the most essential programs in the Adobe Suite. Students are taught the basics of utilizing Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in the class. The appropriate candidate will have excellent working knowledge of these programs and can navigate creative usage of them in terms of applying them to publication and web design. The candidate is expected to be able to plan project-based lessons for the course and match those lessons to outcomes in the syllabus, offer feedback to students in a timely manner, and grade projects throughout the semester, utilizing Blackboard. If you are interested in teaching in a university setting, it can be helpful to gain experience as an adjunct instructor. Many of our adjunct instructors hold a full-time career elsewhere, and choose to teach in our evening, weekend, and online programs so that they may have the opportunity to teach students. Ottawa University employs adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate/graduate level coursework for its adult campuses. Each location has an Academic Coordinator/Academic Dean dedicated to hiring for adjunct teaching responsibilities.

Requirements

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION: Earned MA or MFA in a related field preferred.
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Relevant work experience as a professional freelance designer or within in a design department.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other similar online course platforms.
  • Experience with Zoom, Skype, or WebEx
