We need Part-time instructors to teach Anatomy (BioSc 132, 4 units) and Physiology (BioSc 134, 4 units). These are separate courses and not a combined course. Each of these classes are combined lecture and lab courses.

  • Provide classroom instruction in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and personnel records, and to submit them according to published guidelines.
  • Prepare and grade classroom assignments and examinations, and to inform students of their academic progress.
  • Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
  • Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work.
  • Meet with students outside of class.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Maintain accurate academic records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • A Master's Degree in any biological science, or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any biological science AND a Master's Degree in biochemistry, biophysics or marine science or an MD, DVM or other doctorate degree, or
  • The equivalent.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
  • Passion for teaching and the ability to effectively communicate with students.
  • Experience in teaching biological science class at the community college level.
  • Experience teaching specifically Human Anatomy with human cadavers.
  • Experience teaching specifically Human Physiology with wet lab preparations including frog physiological experiments.
  • Experience with teaching using technology, including, but not limited to use of remote education platforms.
  • Membership in State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
