Requirements

  • Minimum of master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in mental health counseling, counselor education, guidance, social work, psychology or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of post-master's level proven work experience as a practicing psychotherapist.
  • Current knowledge of the human services field including major treatment modalities, instructional techniques, and computer skills related to courses taught.
  • Ability to facilitate in-class skill-building exercises based on simulated scenarios.
  • Proven ability to work with others.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, instructing, and grading all coursework in the assigned classes.
  • Assigning final grades; and recording attendance.
  • Preparing course materials, class lectures, and in-class skill-building activities.
  • Evaluating student progress through examination and assignments.
  • Evaluating student practical skills.
  • Actively supporting student success through academic advising.
  • Participating in any required department, division, or adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Maintaining an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs.
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
