About The Position

This is an open pool posting and applicants will be contacted only if a suitable position becomes available. Pool may be used to fill vacancies for the Fall 2025 - Summer 2026. This pool expires 05/31/2026. Applicants wishing to remain in this pool past 05/31/2026, must reapply at that time. Temporary, part-time adjunct faculty in Geography, GIS, & Sustainability. Online and face-to-face teaching opportunities may be available for a large variety of courses.

Requirements

  • An academic degree in Geography, Geospatial Technologies, Planning, Ecology, Environmental Studies, or Sustainability.
  • At least 18 graduate credits in appropriate discipline and must hold an M.A., M.S., or J.D.
  • For GIS courses: A graduate degree in computer science, general science, planning, or a spatial discipline related to any of the specialty groups defined by the American Association of Geographers.
  • A record of research, creative activity, scholarship or professional achievement relevant to geographic theories, approaches, and methods.
  • Relevant certifications, licensure, or additional credentials relevant to GIS.
  • For Environmental and Sustainability Studies courses: Substantial graduate level coursework or methodological training related to Environmental Studies and Sustainability.
  • A record of research, creative activity, scholarship or professional achievement appropriate to the field of instruction.
  • Relevant certification, licensures, or other professional credentials relevant to the field of instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the one in which the candidate wishes to teach.
  • Past record of successful college-level teaching experience in the discipline of employment.
  • One or more semesters' worth of online teaching experience.
  • Experience using the Canvas platform and with courses that have received Quality Matters approval.
