About The Position

The adjunct faculty member is a part-time instructor expected to provide high-quality education and mentorship to students at The King's University (TKU). Reporting to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for General Education , this position requires expertise in Government, effective classroom management, and alignment with the University's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Political Science, Government, Public Administration, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in political science or government
  • Prior teaching experience or relevant professional experience in government, law, or public service at the college level
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board core curriculum requirements
  • Criminal background verification.
  • Physical and mental ability to meet the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses such as Texas Government, American Government, or Federal Government
  • Deliver instruction on key topics including federalism, separation of powers, public policy, elections, and civic responsibility
  • Integrate foundational documents such as the United States Constitution and the Texas Constitution into course content
  • Develop and implement course materials, lectures, discussions, and assessments aligned with institutional learning outcomes
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress and submit within deadlines
  • Utilize the institution’s learning management system for course delivery and communication
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that encourages critical thinking and informed civic participation
  • Adhere to institutional policies and applicable regulations, including FERPA
  • The role will require the ability to teach on ground from time to time.
  • Model and uphold TKU's core beliefs and values, adhering to the TKU Social Covenant.
  • Attend faculty meetings and training sessions as requested.
  • Comply with all policies, legal requirements, and directives.
