The welding adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School, including classroom and lab environments. Major Responsibilities: PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submit requested information within established timelines. STUDENTS: Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues. INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work. Pay: $47.35 per classroom contact hour. Schedule: Based on course schedule and availability. Typically contracts are for 8-week periods and require 6-8 hours per week. Instructors may teach more than one course based on availability and course schedule. Requirements: A welding instructor may meet the standard through one of seven routes: 1. Instructor has all of the following: Bachelor's degree directly related to the course's discipline Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Two years of directly related work experience 2. Instructor has all of the following: Bachelor's degree in any discipline Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Five years of directly related work experience 3. Instructor has all of the following: Associate's Degree directly related to the course's discipline Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Three years of directly related work experience 4. Instructor has all of the following: Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship Training Journeyman’s card, held for at least 2 years Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught 5. Instructor has all of the following: Certified Welding Inspector credential Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Two years of directly related work experience 6. Instructor has all of the following: Any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Five years of directly related work experience 7. Instructor has all of the following: Workplace Specialist License granted by the IDOE in Welding Technology Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
